Olympics in London 2012

by admin on August 1, 2012

What do the Olympics mean to you? Every four years the best of the best travel to one destination that hosts the Olympic games in their country. London gets the opportunity in 2012 to show the world its culture and lifestyle by presenting the opening ceremonies and bringing tens of thousands of athletes and spectators in to watch the top athletes in the world compete. Each sport is filled with young and aspiring competitors who have trained for years to attempt to win a gold, silver, or bronze medal in the sport they love. I find it truly amazing that when you bring all the different countries together there is nothing but respect and honor amongst the people who compete. Sportsmanship is a quality that is instilled in all the athletes and they show it proudly.

Michael Phelps just won the gold medal last night in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay earning him the 19th gold medal of his career and making him the most decorated Olympian of all time. For such a young man to earn a title like that and solidifying him as the top athlete of the world is an accomplishment that may never be outdone. With 3 events and potenital medals to go, he has a chance to push that record much further to ensure his title can live on for decades to come if not longer.

The Olympics mean showing pride for your country and believing that if you put your mind to anything in life then anything is possible. If you want something then go out and get it. Work hard and you can acheive anything. If you beleive in yourself and you put your head down and work, then you can be the best at what you do. Let’s go USA!
